I think I have a thing for tile.
Ever since I watched about Portuguese ceramic tiles so called "
azulejos" on a TV program, I fell in love with their jazzy color patterns and designs. It said that although there aren't official rules governing the colors of tiles, blue (azul, the first half of azulejos) seems to be the most popular choice in Lisbon.
Those tiles are everywhere in Lisbon and the rest of Portugal, on walls, that's not the only place you'll find it. There's often elegant tilework on the ceilings, floor, and tram, too. Sometimes it's good to look down, of course look up, too!
